SAD Mag Grant Writer

The Grant Writer works closely with co-publishers Becca Clarkson and Cynthia Vo Tran, as well as members of the editorial and web team, to promote the publication’s work and social impact.

 Duties & Responsibilities:

●      Identify and research  funding sources to support existing and planned program activities

●      Lead the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to federal, provincial and private funding agencies. In the past, we have received grants through the Canada Council, BC Arts Council and the City of Vancouver.

●      Maintain up-to-date tracker for grant schedules and new opportunities

●      Serve as a liaison to funding agencies and organizations

●      Work with appropriate personnel to research, develop, write, and submit letters of inquiry, concept papers, and grant proposals

●      Coordinate and follow-up on the progress of submitted proposals

●      Manage financial records and submit reports related to grants awarded.

●      Develop a deep understanding of SAD’s budget and programming needs.

●      Sit on SAD’s board of directors

 

Requirements:

●      Must be based in Vancouver, B.C.

●      2 years minimum experience with grant writing.

●      Strong research skills and knowledge of information sources

●      A full year (2 issues) commitment or longer

●      Excellent spelling & grammar

●      Familiarity with SAD Mag

●      Knowledge of the Vancouver arts & culture scene

 

Shared responsibilities of all members of the SAD Mag collective:

●      Attending magazine events (launches, art/book fairs)

●      Cultivating a welcoming, inclusive organization

●      Championing local arts & culture communities

●      Participating in regular collective meetings

Time Commitment:

As a SAD Mag Grant Writer, you can expect to commit a couple of hours weekly to email and in-person or virtual planning. The majority of work is on your own schedule, coordinating with the co-publishers as necessary.
