Studio 58 Presents The Tempest

“We are such stuff as dreams are made on.”

A magical and ethereal tale, Shakespeare’s The Tempest tells the story of Prospero, the former leader of Milan, and their child, Miranda. While living on a deserted island, Prospero conjures a shipwreck to bring their usurpers to justice. The Tempest deals with the timeless themes of power, love and betrayal.

Studio 58 proudly presents The Tempest to kick off their 58th season.

58 Seasons of Dynamic and Innovative Theatre

The 2023/24 season offers a captivating selection of four mainstage productions and two indie shows, under the Risky Nights series, all showcasing Vancouver’s latest up-and-coming talent.

“Our 2023/24 season celebrates 58 years of Studio 58! What an amazing legacy we have accomplished and an exciting future ahead for another 58 years of students thriving and shining in the training and on our stages,” shared Artistic Director Courtenay Dobbie.

“The four mainstage productions chosen this year honour the depth of the past and the dynamism of the future. We are presenting classics and brand-new student written plays all focusing on human struggles against backdrops of high theatricality and magical realism. Plus, we are back in our newly renovated theatre for the entire season! A big thank you to our community and audiences for their continued support of Studio 58.”
